It Had to Be You: The Great American Songbook is the 20th studio album by British singer Rod Stewart, released on October 22, 2002. It was his first release under J Records and served as the debut volume in what would become a highly successful five-volume series of pop standards. The album features Stewart reinterpreting classic songs from the 1930s, 40s, and 50s originally written by legendary composers like Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Jerome Kern.
