Bili Thedford

Bili Thedford (July 5, 1942 – February 2026) was an American jazz and gospel singer, songwriter, and musician best known as a founding member of Andraé Crouch & The Disciples. 

Career Highlights
Andraé Crouch & The Disciples: He helped shape the sound of modern contemporary Christian and gospel music as a key member of the influential ensemble during the 1960s and 1970s. 

Solo Work & Grammy Nomination: He released solo music, including his 1979/1980 album “Music of my 2nd Birth” on Good News Records, which earned a Grammy nomination in the gospel category. He was also nominated for a Grammy for “More Than Magic” in the Best Soul Gospel Performance, Contemporary category. 

Collaborations & Performances: Born and raised in Los Angeles, he had a prolific career performing worldwide—including at Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and for international dignitaries—and contributed vocals to various secular and soul projects, such as albums by Minnie Riperton and The Blackbyrds.
